Kweku Darfoor is the founder and managing shareholder of The Injury Advocates (Darfoor Law Firm, P.A.), a Plantation-based personal injury law firm serving Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, and South Florida. He has been a member of The Florida Bar since 2014 and focuses his practice on serious injury and wrongful death cases.
Before practicing law, Kweku spent more than ten years in business: a state government agency, a private law firm, an alternative-financing company, a specialty finance and factoring company, and a commercial real estate company. He founded the firm in 2014 to bring that experience to injured people, reading insurance policies, corporate structures, and financial records the way the defense does and preparing every case as if it will be tried.
His cases include car, trucking, and motorcycle crashes; falls that cause serious injury; medical negligence; police shootings and excessive force; and wrongful death. He served as local counsel for the family of Corey Jones in one of Florida’s most closely watched police shooting cases. Kweku is personally involved in every case the firm accepts, from the first meeting through settlement or trial, and clients owe no attorney’s fees or case costs unless the firm wins.
Kweku’s caseload is concentrated in matters where the injuries are serious, liability is contested, or the defendant is an institution with resources: commercial carriers, municipalities, insurers, hospitals, and nursing homes. Representative matters include:
A selection of the firm’s recoveries. Each result reflects the facts of that case, including the severity of the injuries, the available insurance, and the evidence of fault.

On October 18, 2015, Corey Jones, a 31-year-old church drummer, was waiting for roadside assistance beside his broken-down car on an Interstate 95 off-ramp in Palm Beach Gardens when a plainclothes officer in an unmarked van approached and fatally shot him. The case became one of the most closely watched police shootings in Florida. In 2019 the former officer, Nouman Raja, was convicted of manslaughter and attempted first-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison. In 2023 the City of Palm Beach Gardens agreed to a $2 million settlement with the family.
Kweku served as local counsel for the Jones family in Palm Beach County alongside attorneys Benjamin Crump, Daryl Parks, and Skinner Louis. Beyond the courtroom, he organized community stakeholders, served as the family’s spokesperson, spoke on panels about the case, and acted as liaison with the State Attorney’s Office and the investigating agencies.

Short answers from Kweku to the questions injured people ask most often. They are general information, not legal advice about your situation.
Not before you know what your injuries will cost. Early offers are usually based on the adjuster’s estimate, made before your treatment is finished and before anyone has calculated future medical care or lost income. Once you sign a release, the claim is closed for good. Have the offer reviewed first; the consultation is free. How insurers evaluate injury claims →
You generally have to cooperate with your own insurer, but you are not required to give a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurance company, and it rarely helps you. Adjusters call quickly because an early statement, given while you are hurt and before you know the extent of your injuries, can be used to minimize your claim. Speak with a lawyer first. The recorded statement trap →
Florida does not require drivers to carry bodily injury liability coverage, so this happens often. Your own uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage, if you have it, pays what the at-fault driver cannot, and other policies in your household may apply. We review every available policy before deciding how to pursue a claim. Uninsured motorist coverage explained →
For most negligence claims arising after March 24, 2023, the deadline is two years from the date of injury, and wrongful death claims also carry a two-year limit. Claims against government agencies, hospitals, and nursing homes have additional pre-suit notice requirements, and evidence disappears long before any deadline. Call early. Nothing up front. The consultation is free, and injury cases are handled on a contingency fee: the fee is a percentage of what we recover, and if we do not win, you owe no attorney’s fees and no case costs.
