South Florida traffic is legendary. If you are trying to travel from Miami to North Fort Lauderdale, you better build in some extra drive time for unexpected slow-downs. From road construction to a lapse of judgment from another driver, accidents happen all over South Florida.
Unfortunately, your chances of being involved in a car accident are 1 in 4. Likewise, your chances of becoming injured from the accident are even greater. If you don’t feel pain right away, due to your adrenaline rushing from escaping a near-death experience, it may take a few days for the body to relax and for the pain to settle in.
Let Us Put Our Experience & Reputation to Work For You
The Injury Advocates team tries to go above & beyond for those interested in simply getting the facts straight about their potential case. This is why we’ve put together some of the most common frequently asked questions we come across.
Moreover, to file a claim with your insurance company to cover the damages from your injuries, you need documented medical records. The 14-day window is short. However, it is very important to retain a car accident lawyer that focuses on personal injury. Also, ensure the lawyer has many years of quality experience with this category of law. Moreover, The Injury Advocates has been representing car accident victims for over 20 years. In addition, throughout the years, they have seen different scenarios that could possibly occur. Therefore, they ensure that every detail of the case is reviewed in order to retain the best outcome for your case.
Lastly, it’s important to receive the compensation you deserve for your injuries. Don’t let the insurance companies make low-ball offers for the damages you have suffered. Whether your losses are from lost wages at work, no access to a vehicle, or suffering pain from your injuries. You need Kweku A. Darfoor and his team of litigators that understand your situation and that have compassion necessary to fight on your behalf in court.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I have to file a car accident lawsuit in Florida?
For crashes on or after March 24, 2023, Florida generally gives you two years from the date of the crash to file a negligence lawsuit. If a family member died, the two years usually runs from the date of death. Some claims, such as those against a government agency, have extra notice steps, so it is best to talk with a lawyer early.
How much does it cost to hire The Injury Advocates?
Nothing up front. Your consultation is free, and we handle injury cases on a contingency fee basis, which means our fee is a percentage of the money we recover for you. If we do not win your case, you owe no attorney’s fees and no case costs.
Do I need to see a doctor right away?
Yes. Florida’s personal injury protection (PIP) coverage only pays if you get initial medical care within 14 days of the crash. PIP covers up to $10,000 in benefits, and only $2,500 if a provider does not find an emergency medical condition. Getting checked quickly also creates a record that links your injuries to the crash.
Florida is a no-fault state. Can I still sue the other driver?
Yes, when your injuries are serious enough. PIP pays first regardless of fault, but you can bring a claim against the at-fault driver for pain and suffering if you suffered a significant and permanent injury, significant scarring or disfigurement, or a permanent loss of an important bodily function.
What if I was partly at fault?
Florida now uses modified comparative negligence. If you are 50% or less at fault, your recovery is reduced by your share of the blame. If you are found more than 50% at fault, you cannot recover. Insurers often try to push more blame onto you, which is why the evidence matters.
Should I give a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurance company?
You are not required to, and it is usually wise to speak with a lawyer first. Adjusters are trained to ask questions that can be used to minimize your injuries or shift fault.
What if the at-fault driver has little or no insurance?
Your own uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM) coverage may pay if you have it — Florida does not require drivers to carry bodily injury liability coverage, so this happens often. We also review every other policy that might apply, including the at-fault driver’s employer and any vehicle owner’s coverage.

” From the very beginning, Attorney D proved to be personable and dedicated. After a disappointing experience with another lawyer, Attorney D not only delivered the outcome I needed but also supported me throughout the entire process: attending my medical appointments, ensuring my well-being after surgery, and providing consistent follow-up. I am extremely happy with the results and would definitely recommend him for any accident case. “
