Aventura Personal Injury Lawyer

Injury Lawyers for Aventura Residents

The Injury Advocates represents people in Aventura who have been seriously hurt in car, truck, motorcycle, and pedestrian crashes, falls, and other accidents, and families who have lost a loved one. We meet Aventura clients wherever is easiest for them. Our founder, Kweku Darfoor, is personally involved in every case.

Insurance companies work to pay as little as possible on serious claims. We find the angles they would rather you not see, and we prepare every case as if it will be tried in court.

Where Aventura Crashes Happen

Aventura is a high-rise city at Broward’s southern doorstep, built around Aventura Mall, the Brightline station on Biscayne Boulevard and the condo towers along Country Club Drive. More than a quarter of its residents are 65 or older, and mall, causeway and rideshare traffic keep its few main roads busy all day. Many of the cases we see begin on:

  • Biscayne Boulevard (US-1), the city’s main artery, lined with retail driveways, two signalized mall entrances and constant rideshare and pedestrian activity, with the Brightline tracks running alongside
  • William Lehman Causeway, high-speed merges at the Country Club Drive interchange and beach traffic to and from Sunny Isles
  • Ives Dairy Road and NE 203rd Street, the feeder from I-95 to the Biscayne Boulevard flyovers, used as a shortcut around the Turnpike and the Palmetto
  • Aventura Boulevard and Country Club Drive, mall traffic and the Turnberry loop, where walkers, joggers and cyclists share the road with condo driveways and shuttle stops

We move quickly to secure the evidence that disappears fast: traffic and business camera footage, vehicle data, 911 recordings, and witness statements.

Your Case in Miami-Dade County Courts

Injury cases from Aventura are usually filed in Miami-Dade County’s 11th Judicial Circuit, which has its own judges, juries, and local procedures. Smaller civil claims (up to $50,000) are handled in county court, including at the North Dade Justice Center at 15555 Biscayne Boulevard, while larger injury lawsuits are heard by the circuit court in downtown Miami. If the at-fault driver or company is based in Broward County, your case may also be able to be filed there. We explain the options during your free consultation, and you work with the same attorney either way.

How Long Do You Have to File?

For most Florida negligence claims, including car accidents, the deadline is generally two years from the date of the injury. Wrongful death claims also generally must be filed within two years. Claims against government agencies have their own notice requirements and shorter timelines. Because evidence and deadlines both slip away, it is best to speak with a lawyer as soon as possible after a serious injury.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to come to your office in Plantation?

No. Most of our Aventura clients never need to make the trip. We meet by phone, by video, or at your home or hospital, and we handle most of the case remotely.

How much does it cost to hire The Injury Advocates?

Nothing up front. Your consultation is free, and we handle injury cases on a contingency fee basis, which means our fee is a percentage of the money we recover for you. If we do not win your case, you owe no attorney’s fees and no case costs.

Can I recover for pain and suffering after a rear-end crash?

Florida’s no-fault system limits pain and suffering claims in car crashes. To recover those damages from the at-fault driver, you generally must show a significant and permanent injury, significant and permanent scarring or disfigurement, or the death of a loved one. Prompt medical care and careful documentation are key to meeting that standard.

What if I was partly at fault?

Under Florida’s comparative negligence law, you can generally still recover damages as long as you were not more than 50 percent at fault, though your award is reduced by your share of fault. Insurers often overstate a victim’s fault, so do not assume you have no case.

How long do I have to file an injury claim in Florida?

For most negligence claims, Florida’s deadline is generally two years from the date of the injury. Claims against government agencies have additional notice requirements, so it is important to speak with a lawyer early.
